I am an experienced international arbitration practitioner. That means I’ve acted as counsel, arbitrator, or tribunal secretary in institutional and ad hoc proceedings in a variety of sectors and industries across five continents (so far!). Matters are often what is termed “complex” in the industry and involve multiple parties and/or multiple contracts, in high-stakes or bet-the-company disputes that necessitate experienced strategic and procedural stewardship.
When the need arises, I have also represented – or coordinated the representation of – clients in litigations related to arbitration seeking or defending against court-assisted injunctive relief, enforcement and set aside.
I have also represented clients before state and federal courts in the US, and in settlement negotiations and mediations.
These matters include, inter alia:
My mandates as arbitrator or tribunal secretary have extended to:
Institutions: ICC, VIAC
Issues: trademark and licensing, product efficacy, sales, breach of contract, joint venture, simple partnership, supply chain, commercial cooperation agreement, construction
Amounts in dispute: from $1.5 million to over $100 million
Governing laws: Austria, China, England and Wales, Greece, Pennsylvania, Switzerland
Seats of arbitration: London, Vienna, Athens
I also provide pro bono arbitrator services to disputing parties participating in the Virginia State Bar's Fee Dispute Resolution (FDR) Program.
This map shows some of the locations involved in the disputes I have handled (in orange).
